Recently, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission issued the "Notice of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission on the Announcement of the List of 'Shanghai University Exemplary Undergraduate Courses' for the 2024 Academic Year", confirming 29 courses as "Exemplary Undergraduate Courses of Universities in Shanghai" for the 2024 academic year. Two courses recommended by the Shanghai Theatre Academy were selected, achieving a 100% approval rate.

This course, a core professional course of the College of Dance at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, transforms from a choreography technique methodology class to a dance creative thinking development class. The course content spans multiple artistic categories to broaden students' creative horizons. It employs participatory teaching, project-based learning, blended teaching, and diverse evaluation methods to cultivate students' abilities to actively construct knowledge. The course aims to break traditional teaching models, encouraging students to independently explore dance creation ideas and methods, thereby developing a more diverse and independent creative character.

This course, a core professional course of the Department of Acting (including the Musical Theatre Center) at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, adopts a "dual-mentor" teaching model, focusing on cultivating students' comprehensive abilities. The class is designed around "shaping character personalities", covering script comprehension, character creation and stage performance. The course is practical and easy to understand, integrating online and offline interactions. It combines diverse exercises that merge teaching, practice and interactivity, guiding students to discover the beauty of life through performance and embodying the concept of industry-education integration and university-troupe cooperation.
Shanghai Theatre Academy will fully leverage the exemplary role of these courses to plan and execute the series of activities for STA Exemplary Classroom Observation and Teaching Innovation Month.
