On the morning of 29 November 2024, the 3rd STA Global Summer Film Camp officially commenced with a seven-day program focused on AI film creation.
The theme of this course is "AI Image Practical Creation." Participants will explore the latest applications and limitless possibilities of artificial intelligence technology in film creation. The course aims to develop young filmmakers' innovative capabilities and practical skills within the context of AI technology, through a deep integration of cutting-edge theories and hands-on practice.
Renowned experts have meticulously prepared their lessons, and participants from various regions have gathered at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, eagerly anticipating the start of the program. Under clear skies, a group of film enthusiasts assembled at the Shanghai Theatre Academy College of Film for the opening ceremony of the 3rd STA Global Summer Film Camp.
The opening ceremony was hosted by teacher Yan Chengye. Present at the event were Li Zhenlin, Dean of the Shanghai Theatre Academy College of Film, and renowned film producer Chen Hongwei.
During the ceremony, Dean Li Zhenlin provided a brief analysis of China's film industry layout, starting from the history of the academy. He encouraged more young filmmakers to engage and actively learn about artificial intelligence technology. Finally, Dean Li Zhenlin wished everyone an enjoyable and fruitful learning experience.
Following the ceremony, participants formally began their courses.
Course Content
1. What is Film? What is AI Film?
Chen Hongwei, film producer and Master's supervisor at the School of Art and Communication of Beijing Normal University, started by discussing the current film market to deeply analyze the emergence of AI films. He helped participants establish relevant concepts of AI film, meticulously explaining the process from 0 to 1. He also encouraged participants to listen to diverse viewpoints and engage in discussions.
With urgent innovation needed in the film industry, Chen Hongwei also outlined the course's learning requirements and assigned practical tasks, hoping students would genuinely express their valuable life experiences.
2. Overview of AIGC Basic Applications and Key Uses
Yan Wen, CEO of Shanghai Suancheng Technology Co Ltd and an AIGC image creator, discussed the evolution of AI's impact on the industry. She shared personal experiences and provided a detailed introduction to the use of various AI software. She analyzed the use cases and applicable scenarios of different software according to different needs, giving participants a comprehensive understanding of AI technology and enabling them to quickly get hands-on experience.
Participants actively tried out the software and asked questions to gain a deeper understanding of the characteristics and working methods of AI software.
The first day's course concluded successfully. The trainees also shared their personal experiences from the courses.
In the upcoming sessions, we will cover more specialized knowledge and cutting-edge theories, enhancing everyone's practical skills in AI image creation. The journey of learning has just begun, and we hope each trainee will make daily progress and achieve fruitful gains in the subsequent sessions.
