Delegation from European Arts Festivals and Arts Institutions Visits Shanghai Theatre Academy

On 19 October 2024, a delegation of senior representatives from European arts festivals and arts institutions visited the Shanghai Theatre Academy.


The delegation members included senior representatives from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the Avignon OFF Theatre Festival in France, the European Youth Classical Music Festival in Germany, the Lucerne Theatre in Switzerland, the Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi in Italy, the Italian Cultural Economy Association, and a Spanish arts promotion company. Senior representatives from the China Performing Arts Agency and the International Exchange Department of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism accompanied the delegation to the meeting.

Attendees from the Shanghai Theatre Academy included Xie Wei, Party Secretary of the university; Zhang Yunlei, Director of the International Exchange Center; Xiao Ying, Dean of the Acting Department; Yin Yuerong, Party Secretary of the Directing Department; Yin Wuwei, Head of the Puppetry Department of the College of Chinese Opera; Dian Lei, Deputy Director of the Performing Arts Center; Zong Yu, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Center; and Yi Jie, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Center on secondment.

First, Party Secretary Xie Wei extended a sincere welcome to the delegation members and introduced the history and current status of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. Following this, Dian Lei introduced the university's performance activities for the year. Xiao Ying presented the performance "White Snake" and its international performances and awards. Yin Yuerong discussed the recent achievements of the Directing Department in international exchanges and shared prospects for future international collaborations. Yin Wuwei also spoke on behalf of the College of Chinese Opera about its recent international exchange achievements.


Party Secretary Xie Wei expressed the hope that the Shanghai Theatre Academy would continue to produce excellent performances and establish extensive and positive connections with top international theatre festivals, bringing these outstanding works created by the university's faculty and students to the world and promoting China's excellent traditional culture.
