In accordance with the requirements of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee for Education and Health Work, a special meeting was held in the smart classroom of the Huashan Road campus on the morning of October 16. The meeting was chaired by the university's Party Secretary, Xie Wei, who provided a briefing to the retired comrades. Nearly 60 former leaders, retired party members, and members of the university's senior professors association attended the meeting both online and offline.
Holding a briefing session during the annual Respect for the Elderly Month is a fine tradition of our university. At the briefing, Party Secretary Xie Wei first extended holiday greetings on behalf of the university's Party Committee to all retired comrades, wishing them good health and eternal youth. Subsequently, Party Secretary Xie Wei provided a briefing on the "Action Plan for Building Shanghai Theatre Academy as the Best Practice Base for Xi Jinping's Cultural Thought" (hereinafter referred to as the "Action Plan") and the overall considerations for the university's future development in the context of artificial intelligence.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Symposium on Literary and Art Work. Secretary Xie Wei explained the rich connotations and profound significance of Xi Jinping's cultural thought to the retired comrades, in line with the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the symposium. He also detailed the work progress and the four construction tasks and implementation paths outlined in the "Action Plan" formulated by our university within the broader context of building the best practice base for Xi Jinping's cultural thought in Shanghai. Additionally, Party Secretary Xie conveyed the full recognition and earnest expectations of the main leaders of the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee regarding our university's "Action Plan."
Regarding the overall considerations for the university's future development in the context of artificial intelligence, Party Secretary Xie introduced the university's efforts to deepen the construction of the theory system of future theatre studies, advance the forward-looking layout empowered by AI, and build a matrix of science-art integration and innovation laboratories. He emphasized that the university must be well-prepared to meet the challenges brought by cutting-edge technological changes, quickly adapt to the new technological development environment, and seize opportunities to achieve rapid progress.
After listening to Secretary Xie's briefing, the retired comrades saw the university's determination to earnestly implement the spirit of the National Education Conference, and consciously undertake the major mission of cultivating literary and artistic talents, continuing the Chinese cultural lineage and promoting cultural prosperity. They also recognized the university's proactive response to the challenges brought by artificial intelligence technological changes, making forward-looking plans and deployments, and effectively enhancing the university's disciplinary competitiveness. All these achievements made the retired comrades feel gratified and believe that these efforts are commendable.
