During the summer vacation, exciting news has been continuously pouring in from the Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Affiliated Dance School.
Recently concluded, the 21st Seoul International Dance Competition in South Korea saw students from the Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Affiliated Dance School deliver stunning performances on stage, achieving remarkable results with 13 students receiving awards, among which 8 secured the first prizes.
Also taking place in the heat of summer was the fourth CEFA "Fanghua Cup" Dance Teaching Competition, an important event organized by the Chinese Society of Art Vocational Education and hosted by Guangdong Vocational College of Art and the Dance Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Art Vocational Education.
After intense competition, the "Comprehensive Training for Male and Female Students in Advanced Class of Chinese Classical Dance Foundation" presented by the Shanghai Theatre Academy's Affiliated Dance School won the first prize (highest score).
This exquisite demonstration class at the Shanghai Theatre Academy's Affiliated Dance School was taught by three instructors: Ni Qianyun, Shen Yin and Xue Chenrong, all experts in Chinese dance.
The course applies a mixed-gender teaching format for senior students, focusing on the fundamental task of nurturing virtue in education, organically integrating ideological and political education into the curriculum. It closely combines the excellence of traditional Chinese culture with foundational training. Each combination is imbued with personalized themes, harmonizing with classic music such as "Yellow River", "Red Star Shining on My Path to Battle” and "The Fairy Tale", emphasizing "Aesthetic Virtue, Cultural Integrity and Practical Action". This allows students to deeply appreciate the rich traditional culture behind Chinese classical dance, fostering cultural confidence and demonstrating the unique role of dance art in education.
The piano accompaniment provided by teachers Zhang Peiyuan and Qin Xiaomeng also offered robust support in terms of both musical technique and artistry, becoming a significant highlight of the course.
Whether at the Seoul International Dance Competition or the "Fanghua Cup" Dance Teaching Competition, the exceptional achievements reflected the relentless efforts and proactive exploration of the Shanghai Theatre Academy's Affiliated Dance School in practicing new models for dance education and promoting the high-quality development of dance art education.
