On the morning of 23 August 2024, Liu Yina, Director of the Film Division of the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, and her college Yang Sijia came to the Shanghai Theatre Academy’s College of Film for an in-depth research visit. The visit aimed to gain a comprehensive understanding of the College of Film's development across various domains. A dedicated discussion session was held with the participation of the College of Film’s leadership team, including Li Zhenlin, the dean, Han Yongsheng, the party secretary, Dong Jian, the vice dean, and Wang Chunyun, the deputy party secretary.
The group toured Building 5 of the College of Film, visiting facilities such as the photography studio, broadcasting studio, recording studio, mixing studio, composition studio, special effects studio, and standard screening room. This on-site visit provided insights into the College of Film's teaching environment, educational activities, faculty composition, student projects, and available equipment and facilities.
During the discussion, Dean Li Zhenlin provided a detailed overview of the history of film education development at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, the structure of the film and television disciplines, the College of Film's "14th Five-Year Plan" and the current progress. Special emphasis was placed on initiatives such as the "Shanghai Film-STA Young Directors Support Program", the Experimental Film Production Studio, the Intelligent Digital Film and Television Creation Center, the advancement of the Shanghai Film School Series, the Think Tank Platform - Future Image International Research Institute, the "Pujiang Film Forum", the recruitment of leading talents from home and abroad, the Global Summer Film Academy, the Global Two-Day Film Festival, the Shanghai Theatre Academy College of Film "Junxiang Award", host training, and artificial intelligence film and television technology training. He expressed the hope for guidance and support from the Shanghai Municipal Film Bureau. Director Liu Yina outlined the responsibilities and activities of the Film Division of the Shanghai Municipal Film Bureau in areas such as production and marketing segments. She also highlighted the achievements of films produced in Shanghai in recent years in terms of creation and market performance.
The two parties engaged in preliminary and pragmatic discussions on matters such as film resource integration and the development of film-related disciplines. They expressed a desire to initiate more diverse and substantive collaborative projects, leveraging their respective strengths to jointly promote the development of Shanghai's film industry.
