The Third Congress of the Communist Party of China at the Shanghai Theatre Academy Opens

Carrying a sacred mission and glorious dreams, the Shanghai Theatre Academy has reached an important moment in its new journey in the new era.


On the morning of 5 July 2024, the Third Congress of the Communist Party of China at the Shanghai Theatre Academy officially opened with the solemn national anthem.

The conference site was solemn and respectful, with the emblem of the Communist Party of China hanging in the centre of the podium and red flags on both sides. The members of the presidium of this congress were seated on the podium.


A total of 168 representatives attended the congress, with 163 representatives present at the meeting, and 5 representatives absent due to personal or health reasons. Non-CPC leaders of the university, retired leaders and experts of the university, some members of the middle management team, and representatives of various democratic parties attended the opening ceremony as non-voting delegates.


Huang Changyong, Deputy Party Secretary and President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, presided over the opening ceremony and the first plenary session of the congress.

Zheng Jin, a first-level inspector of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee for Education and Health Work, delivered a speech on behalf of the higher authorities.

Xie Wei, Party Secretary of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, on behalf of the Eighth Committee of the Communist Party of China at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, delivered a report titled "High-Quality Talent Cultivation, High-Level Discipline Construction and High-Efficiency University Governance: Take the Lead Among Art Universities in the Journey of Chinese-Style Modernization".

The work report of the Fifth Discipline Inspection Committee of the Communist Party of China at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, titled "Unwaveringly Uphold Integrity and Discipline, Faithfully Perform Duties and Fulfill Responsibilities: Provide Strong Guarantees for the Shanghai Theatre Academy to Take the Lead Among Art Universities", was submitted in written form for discussion at the congress.


After the opening ceremony and the first plenary session, the representatives divided into groups to have enthusiastic discussions on the reports of the two committees.

The preparatory meeting for the Third Congress of the Communist Party of China at the Shanghai Theatre Academy was held on the afternoon of 4 July, where the report on the qualification review of representatives, the list of members of the presidium and the secretary-general, and the agenda of the congress were approved, and the heads and deputy heads of each delegation were elected, making full preparations for the opening of the congress.
