The 29th Shanghai TV Festival Magnolia Award recently revealed the winners of various awards.

Two alumni of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) each won a "Magnolia Award" for their performances in two television dramas respectively.

Hu Ge, an alumnus of the Shanghai Theatre Academy and an actor from the Shanghai Theatre Academy Experimental Film Studio, was named the Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in "Blossoms Shanghai”.

Ning Li, an alumnus of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, was named the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in "Ripe Town".

The jury’s comments on Hu Ge's performance in "Blossoms Shanghai" noted that he enriched the character's personality and depth with his unique life experiences, full of passion and subtlety, vividly portraying the character's spiritual journey.

The jury’s comments on Ning Li's performance in "Ripe Town" noted that he skillfully concealed his pure artistic techniques within the details of his life-like performance, with an outward calmness and inner intensity, making his seemingly effortless performance full of tension.

Last year, Hu Ge was nominated for the Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 28th Shanghai TV Festival Magnolia Award for his performance in "Bright Future" and this year he won the “Magnolia Award” for the Best Actor in a Leading Role. For this, he expressed his feelings about being named the Best Actor in a Leading Role for the second time in a post on social media.

He wrote: “Standing on the shoulders of giants, I have once again received the Magnolia Award. Such fortune does not come every time; the next step requires even effort. Thank you to everyone for their help and support. See you at the next stop.”

Ning Li, after winning the award, said that "The first time I knew about the Magnolia Awards was when I was a sophomore in university. At that time, I promised myself that one day I would stand on this stage. It took me nearly thirty years to achieve this."

He wrote in a post on social media: “She is truly beautiful! With everyone's companionship on the way going up the six steps to the stage, I have never been alone. Grateful to the Shanghai TV Festival.”

Whether it is Hu Ge, who won two "Magnolia Awards" for Best Actor in a Leading Role in two different years, or Ning Li, who took nearly thirty years to complete his "six steps to the stage", they both embody the pride of the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
