The 26th Shanghai International Film Festival will kick off on 14June with 14 domestic and international feature films competing for the Golden Goblet Awards in the main competition section. Simultaneously, the 2024 Shanghai Theatre Academy Film Festival will also begin.


The Class of 2024 undergraduate graduation project of the Shanghai Theatre Academy Film School, "Princess Ariel", has been shortlisted for the short film competition section and will premiere at the Shanghai Film Art Centre on 15 June. The film is directed by Liu Zhiquan and He Xinyuan, written by He Xinyuan, co-directed by He Yixuan, with guidance from teachers Liao Miaojing, Pan Ru and Jiang Haiyang. Many students from the Class of 2024 - Broadcasting and Television Directing (class advisor: Teacher Xiao Xiangning) and the Class of 2024 - Film and Television Photography and Production (class advisor: Teacher Yang Mo) participated in the creation. The film stars Hong Kong actors Jiang Jiamin, Song Jiayi and Xu Weijing, and received support from the Film Liaison Group of the Public Relations Department of the Hong Kong Police Force and the Hong Kong Baptist University.

From 16 to 18 June 2024, the 26th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) Market will be held at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre. The opening film of the 26th Shanghai International Film Festival, the dance drama film "Red Radio Over Shanghai," is directed by renowned alumnus and resident artist of the Shanghai Theatre Academy Film School, and Chairman of the Shanghai Filmmakers Association, Zheng Dasheng. The film is directed and produced by renowned alumnus Cui Yi. On the afternoon of 19 June, the creators of "Red Radio Over Shanghai" will be present at the No. 2 Standard Screening Hall on the Changlin Road Campus of the Shanghai Theatre Academy to share their creative experiences with the faculty and students of the Film School.

Focusing on the Shanghai Film School and discussing the future of higher film education, the press conference for the selection of 30 representative films and 30 representative filmmakers of the Shanghai Film School will be held on the morning of 20 June at the Changlin Road Campus of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. At that time, the list of 30 representative films and 30 representative filmmakers of the Shanghai Film School, selected by scholars and audiences, will be announced. 


On the afternoon of 20 June, the "3rd International Film Education Professional Chain Development Summit Forum" of the 26th Shanghai International Film Festival will be held at the Changlin Road Campus of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. The theme of the forum is to construct the discourse system of the "Shanghai Film School," with sub-themes including the discourse and narrative system of the "Shanghai Film School" and how the "Shanghai Film School" can shape the future directions of higher film education disciplines. Several internationally renowned scholars and artists will attend the forum and share their important views on the "Shanghai Film School."
