The 2nd Outstanding Young Playwright Starting Camp Opens for Registration

As one of the official market activities of the Shanghai TV Festival, the first Outstanding Young Playwright Starting Camp, guided by the Shanghai Municipal Radio and Television Administration, hosted by the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and organized by the Department of Dramatic Literature of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, was successfully held from June 16 to June 23, 2023, at the Huashan Road Campus of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. The event produced several topics with novel and positive perspectives, receiving coverage from agencies and media such as People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, Guangming Daily, the official website of the National Radio and Television Administration, Radio and Television Review, China Audiovisual, Global Times, Wenhui Daily, and The Paper.

The second Outstanding Young Playwright Starting Camp will continue to be an official market activity of the 2024 Shanghai TV Festival. It will be guided by the Shanghai Municipal Radio and Television Administration, hosted by the Shanghai Theatre Academy, organized by the Department of Dramatic Literature of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, co-organized by Shanghai Fuxinshi Film and Television Culture Co., Ltd., Beijing Bainaqiancheng Film and Television Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Fude Cultural and Creative Co., Ltd., and supported by the Jing'an District Cultural Center of Shanghai.


This year's camp will focus on two main themes: "The Cinematic Expression of Outstanding Traditional Culture" and "Innovative Expression of Realistic Themes." Through sharing substantial industry insights, the camp aims to discover and inspire a group of young talents with solid creative abilities and market potential. The camp will be a prominent talent attraction and cultivation activity during the two festivals, attracting outstanding creative talents from across the country to focus on Shanghai elements and create Shanghai stories, thereby contributing to the development of Shanghai's film, television and cultural industries.


Target Participants


Young talents (aged 20-40) who are drama and film playwrights or aspiring writers and drama enthusiasts interested in the drama and film industries, whose creative styles should align with popular culture and mainstream aesthetics. Participants who pass the final assessment will receive a certificate of completion issued by the Department of Dramatic Literature of the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
