Shanghai Theatre Academy and LASALLE College of the Arts, University of the Arts Singapore Sign Memorandum of Understanding

On the afternoon of 22 May 2024, a delegation of three from LASALLE College of the Arts at University of the Arts Singapore led by its dean Steve Dixon, visited the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA). President Huang Changyong, Vice President Nie Wei, Director of the International Exchange Centre Zhang Yunlei, and colleagues from the Planning Office warmly received the LASALLE delegation in the conference room of Fuxi Building.

President Huang Changyong provided a detailed introduction to STA's history and development as well as its academic programs, and engaged in an in-depth discussion on the overlapping disciplines between STA and LASALLE. Mr Steve Dixon elaborated on LASALLE's current development and future plans, expressing a strong desire to deepen cooperation. He hoped to expand collaboration beyond traditional drama performance to include other specialty areas. Vice President Nie Wei clearly expressed support for substantial faculty and student exchanges and high-quality collaborative projects between the two institutions.

LASALLE College of the Arts is a member of the Asia-Pacific Bond of Theatre Schools and has a long-standing and profound relationship with STA. Mr Steve Dixon has previously conducted workshops for STA students and has sent faculty and students to participate in international events and summer programs hosted by STA. Following the discussions, President Huang Changyong and Mr Steve Dixon signed the Memorandum of Understanding at the meeting venue.

After the signing ceremony, the LASALLE delegation visited the Changlin Campus, where they toured several municipal and national laboratories of our university. Han Yongsheng, Party Secretary of the College of Film, provided a detailed introduction to the faculty, courses and facilities of the College of Film. Mr Steve Dixon was highly impressed with STA's achievements in new media arts and film, and expressed a desire for opportunities to promote collaborative projects between students from both institutions.
