On May 17, 2024, a four-member delegation from the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA), including Executive Principal Mark O’Thomas and Commercial Director Georgina Firmin, visited the Shanghai Theatre Academy. They were warmly received by our Vice President Nie Wei, Director of the International Exchange Centre Zhang Yunlei, and Deputy Director Zong Yu.
LAMDA, located in London's West End, is a leading drama school globally and one of the oldest and most renowned performing arts schools. This visit marks LAMDA's first trip to China and Shanghai, aiming to explore exchanges and cooperation with top Chinese performing arts institutions.
Our school introduced its international exchange programs, particularly collaborations with British institutions. LAMDA presented its educational philosophy, international cooperation, curriculum, and strengths, including undergraduate, master's, preparatory and short-term courses such as the Shakespeare Summer School and overseas short-term studies. Both institutions found many commonalities in classic stage performance courses and methods, and academic and artistic atmosphere, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation. Both parties expressed interest in initiating project collaborations, including teaching, student exchanges, academic research and curriculum exchanges.
