Recently, the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Planning Office announced the list of projects approved under the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Planning’s Special Project on "Building the Best Practice Site for Xi Jinping's Cultural Thought." A total of 63 projects were approved citywide, including the project "Research on Constructing the Discourse System of the 'Shanghai Film School'" led by Professor Li Zhenlin from the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
As a special project open to bidding, the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Planning Program’s Special Project on "Building the Best Practice Site for Xi Jinping's Cultural Thought" is established by the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Planning Office to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech during his inspection visit in Shanghai, carry out the deployment of the 12th CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee's Fourth Plenary Session, and promote the implementation of the "Action Plan for Building the Best Practice Site for Xi Jinping's Cultural Thought in Shanghai".
Currently, the Shanghai Theatre Academy is in the process of creating a demonstration university for the "Best Practice Site for Xi Jinping's Cultural Thought," and therefore places great importance on this project application. Since the project bidding started in March this year, the university's Research Office has actively organized and mobilized teachers from various colleges and departments to participate in the application, ensuring the effective progress of this work.
The history, present, and future of Shanghai cinema determine that it will play a significant role in the process of building the "Best Practice Site for Xi Jinping's Cultural Thought." The project "Research on Constructing the Discourse System of the 'Shanghai Film School'" successfully applied by Professor Li Zhenlin's team will study how to construct and develop the discourse system of the "Shanghai Film School" based on the cultural brand and international influence of Shanghai cinema. Constructing the "Shanghai Film School" is of great significance, not only for academic research but also for directly serving the construction of a global film and television production centre, thereby enhancing the influence of Shanghai's cultural brand.
