Teachers and students from College of Chinese Opera give performances in Tengchong, Yunnan Province

At the invitation of 2023 Tengchong Scientists' Forum, teachers and students from the College of Chinese Opera of Shanghai Theatre Academy recently went to Yunnan to perform two Peking Opera plays of Cheng School, namely "The Lucky Purse" and "Mu Guiying Takes Command Again", for the scientists and other guests participating in the Forum, which added artistic luster to this scientists' event and was warmly welcomed.

These performances are an important display of the teaching practice results of teaching of the STA College of Chinese Opera, and also the project results of the Shanghai Collaborative Innovation Centre for Chinese Opera Culture, showing the perfect collision of science and technology and art in the new era. Li Peihong, dean of the STA College of Chinese Opera, director of the Shanghai Collaborative Innovation Centre for Chinese Opera Culture and famous Peking Opera artist, played the leading role in these performances, and teachers and students of the College of Chinese Opera took part in the performances together. Tang Litu, vice president of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, went to the performance venue to give his best regards to the participating teachers and students.

The 2023 Tengchong Scientists Forum was a concrete initiative for in-depth implementation of the strategy of developing the country through science and education, the strategy of strengthening the country through talents, and the strategy of innovation-driven development, with the participation of nearly 2,000 invited guests from home and abroad. The integration of science and art has been a hot topic in recent years. There has always been no lack of lovers and experts of Chinese opera in the community of scientists. Such leading scientists as Deng Jiaxian and Yu Min who had made outstanding contributions to China's scientific and technological undertakings were fond of Peking Opera art. The performances given by the teachers and students of the College of Chinese Opera on this occasion attracted the attention of all the scientists in the audience, who were intoxicated by the beautiful traditional art, and completed an interdisciplinary and cross-field experience.
