On November 25-26, 2023, the Academic Symposium on "Open and Inclusive - Cultivation of All-Media Broadcasting and Hosting Talents: New Era and New Mission" was held at the Changlin Road Campus of Shanghai Theatre Academy, which was co-hosted by the Shanghai Theatre Academy and the Broadcasting and Hosting Committee of Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art, and organized by the Shanghai Theatre Academy College of Film.
The symposium was held at the International Conference Centre on the Changlin Road Campus. 123 experts, scholars and industry elites from 43 colleges and universities and 30 enterprises and institutional organizations participated in the symposium.
The opening and closing ceremonies of the symposium were presided over by Professor Dong Jian, Vice Chair of the Broadcasting and Hosting Committee of Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art, and Deputy Dean of the STA College of Film.
Xie Wei, Party Secretary of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, Professor Zhang Zhongnian, founder of STA’s hosting major, Professor Li Zhenlin, Dean of the STA College of Film, as well as leaders, experts and professors from the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art, the Auditory Committee of the State Language Commission, the Shanghai Television Artists Association, and the Communication University of China delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.
During the keynote speech session of the symposium, the participants engaged in discussions on the themes of "Spirit of Research", "Openness and Integration", "Professionalism and Boundaries" etc.
The symposium adopted the mode of "main venue + parallel sub-venues", including the sub-forum for master’s and doctoral students, so that experts, scholars and young students, as well as performing arts, dubbing artists, radio and TV hosts, and senior representatives of the industry had sufficient room to express themselves. The topics for discussion included: integration and development, conception and shaping, change and reconstruction etc. A total of 94 participants delivered keynote speeches, which extended from news broadcasting and undergraduate programs to the art of dubbing, history recollection and cutting-edge science in terms of the content, and extended from teaching to science and technology, economy, cultural innovation and training in terms of the areas covered, and extended from the cultivation of broadcasting and hosting talents itself to social application, industrial development and human-machine coupling in terms of the topics explored.
The closing ceremony was held on the morning of 26th. Huang Changyong, Deputy Party Secretary and President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, attended the closing ceremony and delivered a speech. Wang Qun, doctoral supervisor at the East China Normal University, also delivered a speech at the closing ceremony.
In addition, this symposium also included a special evaluation and awarding session for master’s and doctoral theses, with five students winning the first, second and third prizes for this year respectively.
After the symposium, the participants all expressed that this year’s symposium "talked about real problems" and had a very strong significance of practical guidance, and that "academic cutting-edge", "Shanghai style" and "innovation and development" were some of the keywords of this academic symposium. The symposium successfully concluded in the warm applause of the participants.
