STA Makes Historic Breakthrough in 16th Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award

Recently, the “Decision to Recognize Winners of the 16th Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award” was officially announced. A total of 500 winners were selected for this year's Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award. Shanghai Theatre Academy had one project winning the Academic New Talent Award and nine projects winning the Outstanding Disciplinary and Academic Achievement Award (including three first prizes and six second prizes), making a historic breakthrough.


The Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award is the city’s highest award for philosophy and social sciences, which is usually held every two years for selection and recognition. There are four award categories this year: Academic Contribution Award, Academic New Talent Award, Award for Outstanding Achievements in Innovative Theory Research of the Party, and Outstanding Disciplinary and Academic Achievement Award, with a total of four winners for the Academic Contribution Award, 14 winners for the Academic New Talent Award, 50 winners for the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Innovative Theory Research of the Party, and 432 winners for the Outstanding Disciplinary and Academic Achievement Award.


Academic New Talent Award


This year, the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award for the first time set up the "Academic New Talent Award". A total of 14 winners were selected for the entire city, including six from Fudan University, two from East China Normal University, and one each from Shanghai Theatre Academy, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, East China University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai University and Shanghai Institute of International Studies.

Outstanding Disciplinary and Academic Achievement Award


The Outstanding Disciplinary and Academic Achievement Award is designed to recognize research results that have a certain value for academic research and discipline construction in the relevant fields of philosophy and social sciences, and have made great contributions to the construction of the discipline system, academic system and discourse system of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics.


A total of 432 winners were selected for the entire city, of which 108 were awarded the first prize including three from the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and 324 winners were awarded the second prize including six from the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
