The 16th Yangtze River Delta Academic Forum of Postgraduates in Theatre, Film and Television is Successfully Held at Our University

The 16th Yangtze River Delta Academic Forum of Postgraduates in Theatre, Film and Television, sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and hosted by the Graduate School of Shanghai Theatre Academy, was successfully held at our university from 4 to 5 November. The opening ceremony of the forum was held on the morning of 4 November in the conference room of the Foxi Building, and was attended by Professor Shen Liang, Director of the Graduate School of Shanghai Theatre Academy, Professor Han Sheng representing the expert panel and Mr Wen Tao, Deputy Director of the Graduate School. The opening ceremony was presided over by Han Shuang, teacher of the Graduate School.

This year's forum was held in an in-person mode, and the participating teachers and students gathered in the conference room of the Foxi Building. At the opening ceremony, Mr Wen Tao, on behalf of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, welcomed the participating postgraduates and explained the theme of the Forum, "Immersion", which represents deep experience and full commitment. Professor Shen Liang reviewed the history of the Yangtze River Delta Academic Forum of Postgraduates in Theatre, Film and Television and expressed his hope that the forum would be internationalized in the future. After the opening ceremony, Professor Han Sheng was invited to give a lecture to the students entitled "Immersion of Everything - Theatre Experience". Besides, Professor Shen Jiayi of the East China Normal University, Professor Yang Junxia of the Yunnan Arts Institute, Associate Professor Situ Jiayi of the Shanghai Theatre Academy and Associate Professor Ding Sheng of the Shanghai Theatre Academy were also invited to form an expert panel.

The Yangtze River Delta Academic Forum of Postgraduates in Theatre, Film and Television 2023 issued a call for papers in July and received a total of 57 papers from doctoral and master's students from 25 universities across China. After review and selection by the Forum's organizing committee, a total of 44 papers were shortlisted for the Forum's presentation session and, finally, the authors of 37 papers formally attended the Forum to make their presentations. During the four paper presentations over two days, the students expressed their views on the theme of "Immersion" and gained a lot. The Yangtze River Delta Academic Forum of Postgraduates in Theatre, Film and Television witnessed students from different specialty areas seeking common ground while holding back differences and promoting each other in the collision of ideas.

The participating experts provided comprehensive and detailed summaries and comments on the postgraduate students' papers. After the evaluation and recommendation by experts, a total of 11 papers were finally awarded the Outstanding Paper Award of this year's forum.

The Yangtze River Delta Academic Forum of Postgraduates in Theatre, Film and Television has developed for 16 years with a total of 16 forums and has become a brand event. This year's forum took "Immersion" as its theme, and students expressed their views and exchanged ideas with each other during the five paper presentations over two days. It is hoped that in the future study and research, students will adopt an open attitude to shake up the old situation, push for changed situation, break through the current situation, and illuminate the light of academics in the exchange and mutual learning.
