On the morning of 24 October, the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) held a special meeting at the Multifunction Room on the Huashan Road Campus to brief retired veteran colleagues on university information. Xie Wei, Party Secretary of STA, provided the briefing on STA's current situation. A live online conferencing link was also distribute to various WeChat groups for work purposes of the retired veteran colleagues for the convenience of those who were unable to attend the meeting on-site, allowing them to listen, watch and learn online.
STA has a tradition of holding a university situation briefing during October every year which is traditionally the month to honor and show respect for elderly community members. During the briefing, Party Secretary Xie Wei, conveyed heartfelt wishes of good health and happiness to retired veteran colleagues on behalf of the university. Subsequently, Xie Wei presented a briefing in four parts to retired veteran colleagues, covering research on the scale of university operations, the Huashan Road Campus maintenance project (phase one), the special support project for district-university collaboration in Minhang District’s "Big Zero Bay", and updates on the progress of establishing University for the Creative Arts (Hengdian).
During the meeting, Party Secretary Xie Wei, discussed the "three" overlapping challenges, i.e. scaling up, financial pressures and staff changeover, hoping that retired veteran colleagues will actively assist and promote the university's development by providing more support and help and more tolerance and understanding.
After hearing Secretary Xie's briefing on the university's situation, the retired veteran colleagues noted the university's practical approach in conducting research, building faculty, training talents, promoting student entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as in developing campus infrastructure. Moreover, they also noted the university has been proactively promoting high-level "bringing in" and high-quality "going out" initiatives. Retired veteran colleagues saw all these actions as a reflection of Shanghai Theatre Academy's diligence in implementing the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, while keeping in mind the original aspiration to "educate people for the Party and train talents for the country” and upholding the operational goals to run a university that satisfies the people, which are deserving of acclaim.
