On the evening of 20 September 2023, the opening ceremony of the first "Micro Short Play Creation Training Camp" of the STA College of Film was successfully held at the Creative Writing Space on the Changlin Road Campus. The event was hosted by Xiao Xiangning, associate professor at the STA College of Film, and Zhu Linli, a famous short play producer, was engaged as the chief instructor and gave the opening lecture of the camp. The first batch of 50 students came from various majors at STA, and the team of instructors consisted of teachers from the College of Film and experts from the industry. Relying on the postgraduate course "Micro Short Play Creation" as the teaching platform, the camp covered the whole market process of planning, playwriting, production and distribution of short plays, and adopted the workshop project system to incubate the excellent works resulted from creation and teaching.
Zhu Linli’s lecture focused on three aspects, i.e. background analysis of short plays, categories and market of short plays, and scriptwriting and suggestions, and provided an in-depth analysis of the creation modes and market trends of the short play industry. In addition, Zhu Linli shared her personal creative experience and encouraged the students to be bold in creation.
At the end of the lecture, the students actively asked questions, which were patiently answered by Zhu Linli. Four students on the spot made story proposals from four directions, namely, ancient romance, campus, comedy and game. Zhu Linli recognized the novelty and richness of the story themes and, at the same time, provided professional guidance from the perspective of practical operation. The playwriting discussion session triggered warm exchanges between teachers and students, resulting in many creative sparks.
The first "Micro Short Play Creation Training Camp" was funded by the "Construction of Cultivation System for Leading Innovative Talents in Film and Television in the Era of Media Integration" of the STA Innovation Team Start-up Program, and aimed at building up the teaching content for the creation of micro short plays and short videos, and guide students to carry out their studies and practices.
