Recently, "The World of Lu Yao", a large-scale original drama written by Professor Sun Zuping and directed by Associate Professor Wan Liming of Shanghai Theatre Academy, started a new round of performances at the STA Experimental Theatre.
The play received an enthusiastic response from the audience when the first round of performances was held not long ago. On the occasion of the second round of performances, STA held an expert seminar for the play in order to further improve the quality of the performance.
Adapted from “The Biography of Lu Yao” and based on Lu Yao’s creative life, “The World of Lu Yao” is a unique and vivid portrayal of Lu Yao's journey of mind in the creation of his novel “The Ordinary World”.
Liang Xiangyang, the author of “The Biography of Lu Yao'” and a professor at Yan'an University, said that Shanghai and Shaanxi have had many cultural encounters because of Lu Yao, and that this drama "The World of Lu Yao", a collaboration between Shanghai Theatre Academy and Yan'an University, is very exciting, and that he is looking forward to future performances of the play in Yan'an.
Hu Xiaojun, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of Shanghai Literary and Art Critics Association, Mao Shian, former Vice Chairman of China Literary and Art Critics Association, and Wu Xiaoming, former Artistic Director of Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio, Film and Television, spoke at the expert seminar.
Leaders of Shanghai Theatre Academy Hu Min and Liu Qing, as well as experts from STA, namely, Yang Yang, Dai Ping, Liu Minghou, Wang Qiwei and Li Wei, were present at the seminar. Representatives of STA’s Artistic Creation Centre and Performing Arts Centre, as well as key members of the cast and crew listened carefully to the experts' opinions and immediately started discussions, striving to make further improvements for the second round of performances.
During the first round of performances, Chen Hua, Deputy Party Secretary, and Liu Jiang, Secretary of Youth League Committee, and others from Yan’an University, the co-producer of the paly, were invited to observe the play.
Chen Hua praised the play for its strong infectiousness. Yan'an University will invite the professional team of STA to come for a Yan'an tour, and plans to make this play as a reserved repertoire of Yan'an University.
