On the afternoon of 21 September 2023, the signing ceremony of the new round of cooperation between Shanghai Theatre Academy and Jing'an District Education Bureau cum the launching ceremony of the "Shangxi Star Theatre" project was held at Jing'an School Affiliated to Shanghai Theatre Academy.
In 2004, Shanghai Theatre Academy and Jing'an District Education Bureau set up Senior High School Affiliated to Shanghai Theatre Academy, creating the first high school with theatre characteristics in Shanghai. In 2017, Shanghai Theatre Academy and Jing'an District Education Bureau set up Jing'an School Affiliated to Shanghai Theatre Academy, expanding the artistic characteristics of education to all sections of basic education. Through three rounds of cooperation in running schools over nearly 20 years, the two parties have established a long-term stable cooperation mechanism replying on their respective advantages and resources, and have also achieved remarkable results. The signing of this agreement signified the beginning of a new round of comprehensive cooperation between Shanghai Theatre and Jing'an District Education Bureau on the basis of the previous three rounds of cooperation in running schools.
Chen Yuqing, Secretary of CPC Jing'an District Working Committee for Education and Director of Jing’an District Education Bureau, and Zhang Weiling, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of Shanghai Theatre Academy, delivered speeches at the ceremony.
At the ceremony, representatives of the two sides signed a co-operation agreement. At the same time, the official launch of the "Shangxi Star Theatre" project was also announced, which is a theatre activities project carefully developed by Jing'an School Affiliated to Shanghai Theatre Academy in order to further strengthen art education and help students' diversified development, relying on the strong resources of Shanghai Theatre Academy. Participants to the ceremony observed the original one-act play "Light" performed by students of Jing'an School Affiliated to Shanghai Theatre Academy.
Heads of relevant functional offices, colleges and departments of Shanghai Theatre Academy, as well as representatives of Jing'an District Education Bureau and Jing'an District Education Academy and representatives of teachers and students of member schools of the Jing’an District Campus Theatre Alliance, took part in the event.
