The Symposium on Teaching Art Majors in Shanghai-based Colleges and Universities was held at the Shanghai Theatre Academy on 22 September. The symposium was co-hosted by the Shanghai Higher Education Society and the Shanghai Theatre Academy. More than 70 guests from the Higher Education Department of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, the Shanghai Higher Education Society, the Shanghai Academy of Educational Sciences, and 15 Shanghai-based colleges and universities offering art majors attended the meeting.

Yin Jie, President of the Shanghai Higher Education Society, Executive Vice President and Provost of the Shanghai Tech University, Kong Yingying, senior official at the Higher Education Department of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Wang Sheping, Party Secretary of the Shanghai Academy of Educational Sciences, and Huang Changyong, Deputy Party Secretary and President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, delivered speeches at the meeting.

Moderated by Shen Liang, Director of the Academic Affairs Office and Director of the Graduate School of the Shanghai Theatre Academ, relevant leaders and experts from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the Fudan University Institute of Higher Education, Shanghai Higher Education Society, the Shanghai University Shanghai Film Academy, the Shanghai Vancouver Film School, the Shanghai Normal University and the Shanghai Theatre Academy made keynote presentations focusing on the talent training and the practice of education and teaching reform in their respective organizations, demonstrating the organization, management and methodology of teaching research for art majors in the context of and driven by the new liberal arts, industry-education integration, digitalization and curriculum-based ideological and political education.


The heads of art majors and key teachers from the Donghua University, the East China Normal University, the Shanghai Tech University, the Shanghai Normal University, the Shanghai Sport University, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the Shanghai Theatre Academy shared the fruitful achievements in promoting teaching research and teaching reform, and exchanged and discussed the conceptual ideas and implementation ways of teaching research and teaching reform of art majors in the light of the frontline practice of art teaching and research.

The successful convening of this symposium has created a dialogue platform for the leaders and teachers of art majors in Shanghai-based colleges and universities, strengthened the sharing of resources and the exchange and cooperation at the levels of schools, majors, teachers and curricula, and boosted the confidence of colleges and universities to work together to promote the high-quality development of art majors.
