In July 2023, the “Filmmakers’ Field Screening” summer social practice team consisting of 8 teachers and students from the College of Film at the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) carried out a 7-day summer practice in Bayangaole Town, Zhalaite Banner, Xing'an League, Inner Mongolia. The practice team not only completed the plans of "screening a film", "undertaking a public welfare activity" and "making a documentary", but also put the spirit of "taking root in the fertile soil of life and serving the people through literature and art" into practice on the vast grasslands of Inner Mongolia.
There is a group of optimistic and kind-hearted children in the beautiful Xing'an League, but their channels and media to understand the world are not as rich as those in the cities. Perhaps an outdoor film screening will be a novel experience, planting a seed in their hearts, leading them to constantly understand the broader world of culture. It was with such hope that the teachers and students of the STA College of Film arrived at the main destination of their trip - Tianjie Kindergarten in Bayangaole Town where they used film as the umbilical cord, connect the 94 children here, focusing on their education, family and growth.
Under the sky, between light and shadow, this wonderful experience is destined to become our exclusive collection for July. Children represent hope and the future, and the "touch" brought to them by film art is real and passionate. We believe that the curiosity and anticipation raised by film will also take their dreams further. Meanwhile, this July, we also felt the power of national unity in Xing'an League, Inner Mongolia, and gained a rich life experience.
"Rural poverty alleviation, art going to the countryside, and aesthetic education” are not just slogans, but also tangibly exist in each of our practice activities. In the future, the "Filmmakers' Field Screening" team will go to more places and use the power of film to sing out the main melody of the new era.
