On 5 July, the Teaching Quality Supervision and Assurance Office held an interpretation meeting on the Evaluation Report on Talent Training Quality of Characteristic Majors in Shanghai Theatre Academy in the conference room on the first floor of the Foxi Building. Dr Cheng Xing, Chief Scientist of the Mycos Research Institute, was specially invited to interpret the report, and provide an in-depth analysis of the main achievements and problems in talent cultivation based on the medium and long-term research data tracking on graduates of our university. Leaders of our university Huang Changyong, Zhang Weiling and Liu Qing, as well as relevant persons-in-charge from the Student Affairs Office, Personnel Office, Academic Affairs Office and secondary colleges and departments attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Dr Cheng Xing provided a detailed interpretation of the report based on the data collected through questionnaire and interview surveys with graduates of our university from 2013 to 2017, which covered four dimensions, i.e. adaptability to social needs, fulfillment of training goals, feedback on the training process and overall evaluation of the university. He also proposed specific suggestions in combination with the characteristics of art universities, evidence base of quality assurance and utilization of alumni resources.
Relevant persons-in-charge from the various functional offices and secondary colleges and departments discussed and exchanged ideas with Dr Cheng Xing. They stated that their respective units would take this report as the basis to fully explore and apply the research outcomes, promote the matching of teaching and training with social needs, push forward teaching reform, improve the construction of the teaching staff, and enhance the training quality and graduates’ employment competitiveness.
At the end of the meeting, the university leaders made the wrap-up remarks. Vice President Zhang Weiling stated that the outcomes of the report should be fully utilized to effectively carry out the orientation for new students and graduating students, identify deficiencies from achievements, identify impetus for reform from problems, and integrate the concept of "all-staff education, whole-process education, all-round education" into all aspects of university management.
President Huang Changyong stated that through the interpretation of this report, a list of issues should be formulated and improvement work should be conscientiously implemented. At the same time, we should adopt innovated management awareness of art universities, look globally, benchmark universities of the same type, and cultivate future, globe and information-oriented composite art talents.
Our university will take this interpretation meeting as an opportunity to continuously monitor and evaluate the quality of talent cultivation at our university, continuously improve the quality monitoring and evaluation system, strengthen talent cultivation, and improve the quality of educational services.
