The psychodrama "I Have a Dream" from the Shanghai Theatre Academy won the first prize of the 2023 Shanghai University Psychodrama Competition and the second prize of the 6th National University Psychodrama Competition.

Not long ago, “I Have a Dream” (directed by Li Tongxin and performed by Cheng Zhengbo, Yang Qile and Wang Junxi, Year 2022 students of the College of Chinese Traditional Opera) from the Shanghai Theatre Academy won the first prize in the final of the 2023 Shanghai University Psychodrama Competition with the highest score, and Cheng Zhengbo, a Year 2022 student of Chinese Traditional Opera Directing, won the "Best Actor Award". Xia Yishi, a full-time counselor at the College of Traditional Chinese Opera, served as the supervisor for this work. 35 teams from universities across the city participated in the competition, with a total of 10 works entering the final, which were held at the Nine Trees (Shanghai) Art Centre.

After the municipal competition, the 11-member team of the psychodrama "I Have a Dream", led by Qi Jisong, Deputy Secretary of the Party General Branch of the College of Traditional Chinese Opera, participated in the final of the national competition at the Jilin International Studies University. Since its launch in early March, the National University Psychodrama Competition had attracted more than 300 universities across the country to participate. This competition was divided into two stages. In the first stage (preliminary competition), 32 works were selected from the registered entries through online display and voting followed by expert evaluation, and advanced into the second stage for on-site showcase (final competition).

The success of 'I Have a Dream' on the municipal and national stages has been an encouragement to the participating teachers and students, as well as a recognition of the work of psychological health education at STA. In the future, the Shanghai Theatre Academy will capitalize on the advantages of comprehensive performing arts disciplines, adhere to the theme of "mental health", continue to promote the work of cultivating people through psychological education, continue to explore ways and methods of mental health education in the new era, spread mental health knowledge in the forms that are suitable for university students, and safeguard the growth of students.
