The crew formation meeting of "The World of Lu Yao", the drama jointly created by the Shanghai Theatre Academy and the Yan'an University with the financial support of the China National Arts Fund, was held on 19 June.
"The World of Lu Yao” is adapted from the book "Biography of Lu Yao". The author of the book, Mr Liang Xiangyang (pen name "Houfu"), was also invited to the meeting. Liang Xiangyang said that as a writer, Lu Yao was the son of Northern Shaanxi and an outstanding alumnus of the Yan'an University, and his works had inspired countless people along their path going forward. The connection between Lu Yao and Shanghai began in the early 1980s. The discussions in "Wenhui Daily" caused by His novella "Life" attracted nationwide attention, thus the literary community referred to 1982 as the "Year of Lu Yao". The work “The World of Lu Yao” not only pays tribute to Mr Lu Yao, but also pays tribute to the literary spirit.
Sun Zuping, the playwright of the play, admitted when discussing the creative process that he had written a "psychological drama" revealing Lu Yao's inner world. His previous creations have never entered the subconscious world of the protagonists, but just told the stories. This creation has been a brand new experience filled with passion.
Wan Liming, the director of the play, stated that the purpose of producing this play is firstly to dedicate it to the elder generation of the same age as Lu Yao, hoping to have such a work with which they can recall and continue their emotions. At the same time, this work is also dedicated to his brothers and sisters, raising the thoughts about life for people who are still striving. Finally, this work is also dedicated to children of the next generation, so that they can understand how the elder generations came up and what kind of endeavors they undertook, so as to better cherish what they now have in possession.
Yang Yang and Liu Qing, vice presidents of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, fully recognized the cohesion, unity and creative enthusiasm of the crew at the crew formation meeting, and hoped that everyone would improve their professional abilities, temper their ideological qualities and complete the creation of the play with high quality through cooperation. The cultural spirit of Yan'an is highly profound, and the production of “The World of Lu Yao” is also a process of learning the culture and, moreover, it is also a process of mutual exchange between the Shanghai and Yan'an counterparts, which is very special and worth cherishing.
