On 21 June, the 2023 Graduation Ceremony of Shanghai Theatre Academy was held in the STA Experimental Theater. Nearly 700 graduates of 2023 from the entire university gathered together to experience this unforgettable moment together with university leaders, teacher representatives and parent representatives.
Zhang Weiling, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of STA, presided over the graduation ceremony. At 9 am, in the solemn national anthem, the graduation ceremony officially began.
Vice President Liu Qing read out the “Decision on Commending the Winners of the 2023 Excellent Graduation Thesis of Shanghai Theatre Academy”. Vice President Tang Litu read out the “Decision on Commending University-level Outstanding Undergraduate Graduates of 2023 of Shanghai Theatre Academy”. Zhou Yin'e, Deputy Party Secretary and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, read out the "Decision on Commending University-level Outstanding Postgraduate Graduates of 2023 of Shanghai Theatre Academy". Deputy Party Secretary Hu Min read out the “Decision on Commending Municipal-level Outstanding Graduates of 2023 of Shanghai Theatre Academy”.
Eight representatives of graduates from eight colleges and departments spoke successively. Zhou Shun'an, the father of Wang Jiayi, a graduate of the Department of Dramatic Literature, spoke as the representative of parents of graduates. Xiao Jin, a renowned curator of immersive commercial art who graduated from the Department of Stage Art, spoke as the representative of alumni and reviewed his time of youth spent in STA. Li Peihong, Dean of the College of Traditional Chinese Opera, spoke as the representative of teachers. Huang Changyong, Deputy Party Secretary and President of STA, delivered a speech titled "Riding on the Tide of Building Modern Chinese Civilization" at the graduation ceremony.
The school flag relay ceremony brought the graduation ceremony to a climax. The four representatives of graduates solemnly handed back the school flag to Xie Wei, Party Secretary of STA. Xie Wei passed on the school flag to the four representatives of current students. During the process of the school flag relay, there were three rounds of applause, and with each round of more enthusiastic cheers, the atmosphere on site reached a climax.
During the oath session, all graduates stood up, raised their right hands, and solemnly toke the oath to the school flag: "Seek truth and refinement, and strive for excellence and perfection. Keep original aspiration in mind, and serve the people. Promote the Chinese spirit, consolidate Chinese strength, and strive for the prosperity of socialist culture in the new era!" Each sentence of the oath was powerful and passionate, demonstrating the graduates' emotions and aspirations.
At the degree awarding ceremony, Vice President Yang Yang read out the “Decision of Shanghai Theatre Academy on Awarding Doctoral, Master's and Bachelor's Degrees in 2023”.
In the witness of the entire audience, the students who obtained their degrees walked onto the podium with joy to undergo the solemn ceremony of turning the tassel, and receive their graduation certificates.
In the "Graduation Song" sung by all at the venue, the 2023 Graduation Ceremony of Shanghai Theatre Academy concluded successfully.
