On the morning of 19 May, Dong Jian, Vice Dean of the Shanghai Theatre Academy College of Film, led all the teachers from the Broadcasting and Hosting Department to the Shanghai Broadcasting Building for communication and discussion with Liu Feng, Director of the Shanghai Dubbing Studio, and the heads of relevant departments. At the meeting, the two sides had candid, in-depth and pragmatic exchanges on topics such as joint training mechanisms, dubbing talent cultivation, dubbing practice teaching, expanding employment channels, current situation of dubbing market, and the impact and opportunities of artificial intelligence (AI) for related fields.
Director Liu Feng introduced the relevant situation of Shanghai Dubbing Studio, and discussed the opportunities and challenges of AI in the voice market. He stated that strengthening the industry-education-research integration and leveraging the demand advantage of the dubbing market for high-end dubbing art works must be combined with the advantages of dubbing teaching and training in higher education institutions.
Vice Dean Dong Jian introduced the training objectives and student situation of four undergraduate majors at the College of Film, i.e. Broadcasting and Hosting Art, Broadcasting and Television Directing, Film and Television Photography and Production, and Composition and Theory of Composition Technology. At the same time, she also introduced the relevant situation of MFA and other postgraduate majors. Vice Dean Dong Jian stated that the four majors of the College of Film are closely aligned with the market, and the College attaches great importance to talent cultivation in the complete chain of industry, education and research, to talent cultivation in practical education, and to the output and transformation of teaching achievements. She also introduced the current situation of the cultivation of dubbing talents, as well as the new training goals and teaching methods.
Finally, Liu Feng took the teachers from the Broadcasting and Hosting Department for a tour of the relevant spaces of the Shanghai Dubbing Studio to learn the production history and process of dubbed films.
