On the afternoon of 4 April, organized by the Scientific Research Office of Shanghai Theatre Academy, the lecture "Delivering Chinese Experience – The Practice of Stage Play Adaptation of Chinese Literature Classics" given by Professor Mou Sen was successfully held in the Smart Classroom on the first floor of the Huashan Road Campus Library. The lecture was presided over by Professor Zhi Yunbo, Director of the Scientific Research Office.
At the China Academy of Art, Professor Mou Sen is currently the chair of the Department of Media Scenography of the School of Intermedia Arts, the head of the Narrative Engineering Research Institute, and is the supervisor for master’s degree students of both the "Drama Series" specialization at the School of Intermedia Arts and the "Megastructure of Space Design and Narrative Engineering” specialization at the Visual China Art Research Institute. Professor Mou Sen is considered an iconic figure in Chinese avant-garde drama.
Professor Mou Sen reviewed the adaptation of Liu Zhenyun's "Someone to Talk to", Mo Yan's "Red Sorghum Family" and Jia Pingwa's "The Abandoned Capital" in detail, and shared with the audience a lot of practical experience in adapting these three classic works of contemporary Chinese literature into stage plays. Afterwards, Professor Mou Sen explained the specific paths and methods of adapting works of literature to the audience.
During the interactive session, the teachers and students enthusiastically asked questions, and Professor Mou Sen provided detailed answers one by one. His unique and insightful artistic perceptions, broad and subtle artistic realm, superb artistic creativity and persistent artistic pursuit all left a deep impression on the audience present. When the lecture was over, the audience still gathered around Professor Mou Sen for a lively discussion.
