On 30 March 2023, the General Party Branch at the Shanghai Theatre Academy College of Film held the themed party day activity. The three party branches under the General Party Branch at the College of Film Academy held a party class on the theme of "Faith & Inheritance", taking the release of Professor Hou Yong's film "Wang Dao" as the opportunity. This themed party day has been listed by the Organization Department of the CPC Shanghai Theatre Academy Committee as a themed party day and organizational life observation and exchange activity for all grassroots party organizations within the University. The secretaries, deputy secretaries and some of the party members from the various general branches (branches) at the Shanghai Theatre Academy were present onsite to observe. 50 retired party members from the Party Branch of Retired Personnel and all party members from the No. 2 Party Branch of Functional Offices attended this theme party day activity.
The General Party Branch at the College of Film not only comprehensively implements the work of grassroots party building, student cultivation and college development, but also takes the Changlin Road Campus as the base to reach out to surrounding schools and hospitals in various towns and serve the general public in the local community where the University is located. On that day, Wang Qi, the Secretary of the Party Branch of Teachers at the Shanghai Theatre Academy College of Film, and Wang Jiayuan, the Secretary of the No. 5 Party Branch of Administrative and Logistics Staff at the Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital attached to Fudan University, signed the agreement for collaborative party building on behalf of their respective branches, marking the beginning of this party class.
The film "Wang Dao" is directed by Professor Hou Yong from the Shanghai Film Academy College of Film, and it is currently being screened and well received. The film starts from 1920 and tells the story of Chen Wangdao, the translator of the first full-length Chinese translation of the Communist Manifesto, who had gone through turbulent changes and had always been “pursuing the truth to save the country and the people”, like the meaning of his name "Wangdao". It also depicts a group of aspiring young people who firmly believed in their ideals and beliefs a hundred years ago.
After the teachers and students present had watched the film "Wangdao" together, Professor Hou Yong, who came back especially for this activity from the national roadshow of the film, introduced the mental journey of shooting this film to the participants. Subsequently, the representatives of teachers and students also shared their thoughts and feelings.
The teachers and students present also watched the short film "Chen Wangdao's Former Residence: A Centennial Review of the Chinese Translation of the Communist Manifesto" together. Some of the students form the Broadcasting and Hosting Arts major and the Cinematography and Production major at the College of Film participated in the production of the film, and four of them came to the party class to share their reflections and experiences.
After the oath-taking session which was the climax of the party class, Huang Changyong, President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, commented on the party class and gave full recognition for its topic, form, content, participation and impact. Finally, Han Yongsheng, Secretary of the General Party Branch at the College of Film Academy, made the concluding remarks.
In addition to party members from the University itself, the Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital (Pujiang) Affiliated to Fudan University, Senior High School affiliated to Shanghai Theatre Academy, Minhang School affiliated to Shanghai Theatre Academy, Pujiang No.1 Middle School and Pujin Sub-District Trade Union all sent party members to participate in this themed party day activity.
