Collision and Fusion of Modern Technology and Traditional Aesthetics in Film Production
With the well-received screening of the science fiction blockbuster "The Wandering Earth II" in the Spring Festival season, the vivid visual design and exquisite cinematography techniques in the film have also caused extensive and heated discussion. As the cinematography director of this film, Mr Liu Yin was also invited to the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) College of Film to give a master lecture for the teachers and students of STA.
This master lecture, which was organized by the Experimental Film Studio and the ARRI Centre of Shanghai Theatre Academy, was held in the afternoon of 24 March at the No. 2 Standard Screening Hall of the Shanghai Theatre Academy College of Film. The lecture was presided over by Professor Kees. Li Zhenlin, Dean of the College of Film Academy, and Wang Chunyun, Deputy Party Secretary of the College of Film, attended the event.
Mr Liu Yin’s lecture was on the topic of "The Collision and Fusion of Modern Technology and Traditional Aesthetics in Film Production - An In-depth Discussion with Cinematography in "The Wandering Earth II" as An Example", and introduced the story behind the scenes during the film shooting process.
During the question & answer session, the students also raised their own thoughts and questions, and Mr Liu Yin answered the questions in detail one by one, providing valuable suggestions and assistance to the students.
After the lecture, Professor Kees, on behalf of the University, presented a gift to Mr Liu Yin as a token of gratitude, and took a picture with Mr Liu.
"The Wandering Earth II" has successfully opened up a new phase of Chinese science fiction films, and the cinematography team led by Mr Liu Yin has also made a fruitful exploration for promoting the development of Chinese science fiction films. Finally, Mr Liu Yin also left the STA students with the message that they should constantly explore, maintain their original aspiration, and make more contributions to Chinese movies.
