On 16 March, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) held a reception in Shanghai to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of its China representative office.

UKRI is the UK's largest public agency that provides funding support for research and development, with four representative offices around the world dedicated to promoting the development of science and technology and humanities and social sciences. Its China representative office actively promotes UK-China operation in scientific research and innovation, and has established a long-term close cooperative relationship with the Shanghai Theatre Academy, including a mutual plan to establish a China-UK creative centre in Shanghai.

President Huang Changyong of the Shanghai Theatre Academy was invited to attend the reception and make an opening speech. The event was presided over by Dr Daniel Brooker, Director of the UKRI China Office, and the guests who also delivered the speeches were Chris Wood, British Consul General in Shanghai, and Professor Christopher Smith, Executive Chairman of the Arts and Humanities Research Council, UK. The opening speeches were followed by a case presentation of UKRI-funded China-UK projects in the cultural and creative field, as well as a demonstration of project results. The participants were engaged in warm discussions and exchanges, exploring further opportunities for cooperation in this field.
