7 February 2023 was the second anniversary of the premiere of the large-scale original drama "Outpost" of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. 2021 coincided with the centenary of the founding of the CPC and the 90th anniversary of the death of the "24 martyrs of Longhua", including five young writers of the League of Left-Wing Writers of China. On 7 February of this year, the premiere of "Outpost" joint produced the Shanghai Theatre Academy, the Shanghai Longhua Martyrs Cemetery (Longhua Martyrs Memorial Hall) and the Shanghai Foundation for Supporting the Army and Military Family Members was a complete success. On the occasion of the second anniversary of the premiere, it was very gratifying that the play was selected into the project of "2023 Excellent Original Work in Higher Education Institutions". Let's review the footprints of the performances of "Outpost".
- 7 February 2021: The premiere of “Outpost” took place at the STA Experimental Theater.
- April and July 2021: Two rounds of performances were staged at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Opera House and the Shanghai Grand Theater respectively.
- November 2021: “Outpost” was selected as one of the ten plays for showcase at the 2021 Series of China Theatre Festival.
- March 2022: The originally scheduled performances at the Capital Theater and the Centennial Hall of Peking University were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The production team donated 3,000 pieces of Sachima customized for this round of performances to the teachers and students at the various STA campuses under quasi-lockdown at that time.
- May 2022: a month-long live webcast activity was held, with more than 6.13 million viewers accumulatively for a total of 24 on-cloud performances, and more than 40,000 interactions on Weibo.
- August 2022, “Outpost” was staged at the STA Experimental Theater once again, and toured other provinces and cities for the first time, performing in the Suzhou Bay Grand Theater and the Ningbo Grand Theater respectively.
- Fall 2022: The shooting of China’s first-ever 8K panoramic sound drama film was successfully completed.
- February 2023: “Outpost” was selected into the project of “2023 Excellent Original Work in Higher Education Institutions".
We believe that with the comprehensive recovery of China's performing arts market, this stage play coming out from the STA campus, which eulogizes the spirit of martyrs and explores history and reality, will go far and further.
