"Art Research in the Digital Age: From Theory to Method", a blockbuster course, is about to start

A series of phenomena, such as the Internet, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and "meta universe", which are constantly emerging in the "digital age" are accelerating the updating of knowledge. At the same time, our knowledge system of art theory is undergoing drastic changes. In such an era and knowledge background, under the leadership of President Huang Changyong, the Shanghai Theatre Academy, with the joint efforts of internal and external academic teams, launched a blockbuster course of the art theory subject – “Art Research in the Digital Age: From Theory to Method”, as an overall reflection of the knowledge system of art theory in the new era.


This course selects eight cutting-edge theoretical perspectives in the field of art research, i.e. "media highlights", "subject differentiation", "world reconstruction", "presentation of works", "virtual reality", "meaning operation", "theatre events", and "humanities computing". It comprehensively reviews the current art research from theory to method, and invites eight top external experts in this field to create this high-quality course together with the teachers from within the Shanghai Theatre Academy.


Through this course, students will further deepen their understanding of the response of art research to the new issues of the era, and also broaden their awareness of cutting-edge issues in the knowledge system of art theory.
