On 12 December 2018, the China Democratic League Shanghai Municipal Committee held a general assembly to celebrate the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up in China in the Shanghai Democratic Parties Building. Chen Qun, Vice-Chairman of the China Democratic League Central Committee, Vice-Mayor of Shanghai and Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the China Democratic League, and Cai Kui, Director-General of the Organization Department of the China Democratic League Central Committee, attended the event and delivered speeches. At that event, the China Democratic League Shanghai Theatre Academy Committee was awarded the Innovation Award for Organizational Activities, and Zhang Xiao’ou, a teacher of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, was named an advanced individual.
In addition, Professor Li Zhenlin, Chairman of the China Democratic League Shanghai Theatre Academy Committee, was elected as a director of the board of the Shanghai Writers' Association at the 10th General Assembly of the Shanghai Writers' Association held on 17 December 2018.
