In order to further deepen the reform of postgraduate education and comprehensively improve the level of postgraduate education and the quality of talent training, according to the requirements of relevant documents such as the Measures for Accreditation Assessment of Academic Degree Authorization Units and the Notice on Carrying out Accreditation Assessment of Academy Degree Authorization Units issued by the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education, the Shanghai Theatre Academy held the Postgraduate Degree Authorization Units Accreditation Assessment Meeting on 23 November Li Zhenlin, Dean of the Shanghai Theatre Academy Graduate School, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. All staff of the Graduate School attended the meeting. The meeting consisted of two expert groups, i.e. one for the morning session and the other for the afternoon session.
The expert group for the morning session was composed of professors and experts from the Central Academy of Drama, East China Normal University, Shanghai University, Chinese National Academy of Arts and Shanghai Stage Technology Research Institute Shanghai Stage Design Art Centre. The expert group listened to the reports given by Yin Tianfu and Zhang Lin of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and reviewed the evaluation reports of master's degree in design studies and master’s degree in music and dance. The expert group affirmed the achievements of these two master’s degree authorization units in recent years, and put forward valuable opinions.
The expert group for the afternoon session was composed of professors and experts from the Beijing Film Academy, Fudan University, Shanghai University and Shanghai Jiaotong University. The expert group listened to the reports of Wu Baohe, Wang Yun and Li Zhenlin of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, reviewed the evaluation reports of doctoral degree in theatre, film and television studies, doctoral degree in art theory and MFA degree. The expert group spoke highly about the training quality and research and creation abilities of the relevant specializations, and provided relevant suggestions for future development.
Having gone through the expert review process, five doctoral and master’s degree authorization units of the Shanghai Theatre Academy all passed the accreditation assessment. Finally, Li Zhenlin, Dean of the Shanghai Theatre Academy Graduate School, thanked the experts for their opinions and suggestions, and said that the Shanghai Theatre Academy would carefully analyze and implement the opinions and suggestions put forward by the experts, address the problems found in the assessment, continuously improve the training quality and overall level of postgraduate education at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and be prepared ready for the random inspection of the Ministry of Education in 2019.
