On 1 November 2018, the meeting for the establishment of the Steering Committee for Higher Education Teaching 2018-2022 of the Ministry of Education was held in the Beijing Convention Center. Professor Huang Changing, President of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), was appointed Vice-Chairman of the Steering Committee for Teaching in Art Theory, and Professor Li Zhenlin was appointed Vice-Chairman of the Steering Committee for Teaching in Theatre, Film and Television.
At the meeting, Chen Bashing, Minister of Education, made an important speech entitled "Fully Grasp the Requirements of the New Era and Rejuvenate the Undergraduate Education in an All-round Manner", and put forward the expectations for the work of the newly appointed Steering Committee for Higher Education Teaching. Lin Hailing, Vice Minister of Education, put forward the requirements for the work of the newly appointed Steering Committee members. Wu Yam, Director-General of Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, briefed the participants on the new situation and challenges facing higher education in China.
The Steering Committee for High Education Teaching is the highest expert organization appointed and led by the Ministry of Education to guide the teaching work in higher education institutions. It receives the entrustment of the Ministry of Education to carry out research, consultation, guidance, evaluation and service.
