On 24 of October, during the week-long "China Shanghai International Arts Festival – Raw Land Rising Artists’ Works" event, the competitive presentation session and film and television summit of the "Aurora on the Bund Student Short Film Project" were successfully held at the New Space Theater of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. Leaders and representatives of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, Zhejiang Tangde Film and Television Co Ltd and iQIYI attended the opening ceremony.
In the morning, at the venue of the competitive presentation session, representatives of each of the sixteen nominated creative teams showed their ingenuity, trying to catch the attention of the judges and the audience in just three minutes in competition for five placements as the organizing committee’s recommended works. The competitive presentation session was an innovative mechanism that had been explored by the "Aurora on the Bund Student Short Film Project”.
The film and television summit invited several heavyweights of the industry covering content and marketing to provide their insightful opinions on the common problems of young film and television talents in their creation, and provide the students present with first-hand fresh information of the film and television industry as well as filming and production experiences. Also, Mr Ren Zhong, a graduate of the Shanghai Theatre Academy who is now a famous actor and director, shared his personal experience of transformation with the current students.
It is hoped that, on the basis of the academic affairs system of the Shanghai Theatre Academy providing strong support for the filming practice of the College of Film and Television, the “Aurora on the Bund” project will further enhance the resources support for students' filming practice, and create an environment more beneficial to students giving full play to their creativity and also reducing the difficulties in creation caused by the lack of resources. The introduction of such resources as the Tangde Film and TV Group and iQIYI is not only a high affirmation of the past professional qualities and works of the teachers and students of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, but also a challenge to the more exciting creation in the future. The Shanghai Theatre Academy will continue to practically optimize the allocation of teaching resources, and also hopes that students will actively enhance their own ability to create more excellent works.
