In recent years, the Songjiang District relies on a creation team established by Professor Lu Jun of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, a native of Songjiang, to collect and sort out the resources of historical celebrities in Songjiang and create the scripts of a series of plays featuring the historical celebrities of Songjiang such as Lord Chunshen, Lu Ji and Xu Jie, which highlight Songjiang’s urban cultural characteristics as the “Root of Shanghai” and display the identity of “Songjiang Culture”.
On the afternoon of 12 September, a special script reading session of a drama trilogy featuring the historical celebrities of Songjiang was held at the Wenyi Conference Hall of the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Artistic Circles to demonstrate the periodical achievements of the "Three Year Action Plan for the Construction of Cultural Songjiang", and to support the launch of the "Shanghai Culture" brand and lay the foundation for the establishment of the cultural benchmark as the “Root of Shanghai”. Professionals from the Shanghai Theatre Academy, Shanghai Yue Opera Theatre and Shanghai Campus Theatre Text Incubation Center read the excellent sections of Yue opera Lord Chunshen, Lu Ji and Xu Tie respectively.
Under the joint guidance of the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Publicity Department of the CPC Songjiang District Committee, the script reading session was jointly sponsored by the Songjiang District Administration of Culture, Radio, Film and Television, the Shanghai Drama Association and the Songjiang District Federation of Literary and Artistic Circles. Cheng Xiangmin, Secretary of the CPC Songjiang District Committee, Lou Wei, Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Theatre Academy Committee, Hu Min, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Theatre Academy Committee, and Professor Lu Jun of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, as well as the relevant leaders of the Shanghai Higher People's Court, the Publicity Department of the CPC Songjiang District Committee, the Songjiang District Administration of Culture, Radio, Film and Television, the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Artistic Circles, the Shanghai Drama Association, the Shanghai Education Association, the Publicity Department of CPC Xinyang Municipal Committee of Henan Province, and the relevant Xinyang Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publishing, attended the event. Nearly 300 people, including the representative of the above mentioned organizations, the Songjiang District Drama Association and the Shanghai Theatre Academy, as well as a large number of drama lovers, came to enjoy the script reading session.
