On the afternoon of 8 September, Shanghai held the theme event in celebration of the 34th Teachers' Day. This event was sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal CPC Committee for the Work of Education and Public Health and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and was organized by the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) and the Shanghai University. Yin Hong, Deputy Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, and Weng Tiehui, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, attended the event and presented awards to outstanding teachers. Lou Wei, Party Secretary of CPC STA Committee, Hu Min, Deputy Secretary of CPC STA Committee, Xu Yong, Director of Publicity Department of CPC STA Committee and Director of Office of CPC STA Committee and Office of STA President , were invited to participate in the event.
The whole program of the theme event was created by teachers and students in Shanghai. More than 100 teachers and students of STA participated in the performance. Four of the five performances were presented by STA. The team from STA also worked in the roles of directors, emcees, stage supervisors and other front and back-stage staff. As a project execution organization, STA started participating actively in the planning of the event in the first half of this year under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal CPC Committee for the Work of Education and Public Health and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission; STA Party Secretary Lou Wei and Deputy Party Secretary Hu Min attached great importance to it and was personally involved on a number of occasions; With the organization and coordination of the Publicity Department, the teachers and students of STA and its attached dance school and attached senior high school gave up their resting time during the summer vacation and worked extremely hard in the hot summer for two months of intense rehearsal. The whole program closely followed the main line of teachers' morality and style, showing and reflecting the inheritance and advancement of Shanghai’s education workers generation by generation to converge the power of education in the new era. The excellent performance of the STA team won unanimous praise from the municipal leaders, as well as the leaders of the Shanghai Municipal CPC Committee for the Work of Education and Public Health and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. The teachers and students of STA also moved the audience with their performances full of true feelings which won a lot of applause.
It is reported that the event will be broadcast on Shanghai Education Television Station at 19:35 on Monday 10 September.
