In the golden autumn of October, the teacher's version of “Wild Field” produced by the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) will make its Great Theatre of China debut, bringing the audience the vivid beauty of primitive wildness.
Since its premiere in 2009, "Wild Field" has performed in Italy, Russia, the Czech Republic and a number of other countries, setting a record for the most overseas performances of Cao Yu's works.
This STA version of “Wild Field” interweaves the freehand style of the East with the broad-minded style of the West on the stage, and combines the graceful poetic flavor of Chinese opera with the lyric grandness of Western poetic drama.
Director He Yan uses improvisations as the rehearsal method to let the actors feel the simplest and most sincere love and hatred in their original state.
