On the morning of 20 June, the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) held the 2018 Graduation Ceremony at the STA Experimental Theatre, which began in the magnificent national anthem of the People's Republic of China.
The leaders of STA, Lou Wei, Huang Changyong, Zhou Yin'e, Zhang Weiling, Tang Litu, Yang Yang, Liu Qing, Zhang Jiachun, as well as Ye Changhai, Chairman of the STA Academic Committee, and the heads of various colleges and departments, were seated on the stage. The instructors for doctoral and master students were seated in the front rows of the audience seats. The representatives of teachers, parents and graduates attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Zhang Weiling, Vice Chairman and Vice President of STA.
At the ceremony, Zhang Jiachun, CFO of STA, Tang Litu, Vice President of STA, and Zhou Yin’e, Vice Chairman of STA, announced the name lists for the various awards for the graduates respectively. Then, the award-winning graduates went onto the stage and received the excellent graduate awards and excellent thesis awards from the STA leaders.
During the speech session, the representatives of graduates, parents, alumni and teachers came onto the stage to speak and deliver messages. Huang Changyong, Vice Chairman and President of STA, delivered a speech at the graduation ceremony, congratulating the graduates on the successful completion of their studies, and thanking the parents and all the teachers and staff.
This year's graduation ceremony added an event which was the exchange of gifts between the university and the graduates. The graduates gave the university an oil painting of the scenery of STA in the four seasons, and the university returned a calligraphy “Excellence, Perfection” to all graduates. Lou Wei, Chairman of STA, exchanged the gifts with the graduate representatives and took a group photo to mark the event.
The subsequent school flag handover ceremony brought the graduate ceremony to a climax. When the representative of the graduates presented the school flag solemnly to Chairman Lou Wei who in turn presented the flag to the representative of current students, thunderous applause came from the audience. Then, all the graduates rose to the school flag and solemnly took the oath.
Finally, Vice Presidents of STA Yang Yang and Liu Qing presided over the degree awarding ceremonies for the doctoral degree, master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in succession. In the attention of all teachers and students present, the degree-winning graduates went onto the stage with great joy and received the degree certificates from the hands of the STA leaders. At the end of the graduation ceremony, all teachers and students sang "Graduation Song" and took a group picture to mark the occasion.
