On the afternoon of 11 June 2018, a group of five from the Pratt Institute of the USA including the President, Vice President, Dean of the School of Art and advisors, and a group of five from the Hengdian Group including its Vice President Mr Wang Hong, visited the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA).
First of all, Ms Frances Bronet, President of the Pratt Institute, gave the STA students a lecture entitled "Feel the Force: how physical and architectural bodies can influence each other the body - A talk about architecture and dance as a model for synthetic practice". The classroom was fully seated and the students benefited a lot from the lecture.
After the lecture, Mr Huang Changyong, President of STA, met with the President of the Pratt Institute, Vice President of the Hengdian Group and their entourages. Attending the meeting from the STA included Mr Yang Yang, Vice President, Mr Li Zhenlin, Dean of the Graduate School and Dean of the Film and TV College, Mr Yin Tianfu, Dean of the Stage Design Department, Mr Qu Fengguo, Deputy Dean of the Stage Design Department, Ms Zong Yu, Office Manager of the International Institute, and Ms Lou Yan, Executive Officer of the International Exchange Centre.
President Huang Changyong of STA first introduced the overall development of STA, including the campus locations, teachers and students, curriculum, ideas of education, international exchange and cooperation etc. Then, Ms. Frances Bronet, President of the Pratt Institute, and Gerald Snyder, Dean of the School of Art, gave a detailed introduction of the overall situation and ideas of education of the Pratt Institute. Pratt Institute is a higher education institution of applied art. Like STA, it pursues cultural excellence and gives back to the society through culture. The two sides had a warm and friendly meeting and agreed on the preliminary intent to cooperate on the joint education programs in area of film and television as well as the teacher and student exchange programs.
After the meeting, accompanied by Vice President Yang Yang and other STA staff, the President of the Pratt Institute and party visited the Shanghai International Dance Center where they also observed the classes. After the visit, Mr Lou Wei, Chairman of STA, held a friendly meeting with the guests from the Pratt Institute.
