5316 Series of Shared Courses – The “Chinese” Traditional Culture Password in Ancient Cultural Relics

On 9 May 2022, as part of the 5316 series of shared courses and the lecture series on film and television creation for the radio and television editing and directing major which were sponsored by the College of Film of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), the lecture entitled “The ‘Chinese’ Traditional Culture Password in Ancient Cultural Relics” was successfully held online. The said lecture series is sponsored by the STA College of Film Academy and Tencent Video, and undertaken by the Media content Creation and Research Center under the STA College of Film, focusing on building a sharing platform for university-industry joint courses. Mr. Tan Shengguang, curator of the Art Museum of Tsinghua University, was specially invited to give a keynote speech. The lecture was mainly for students of the STA College of Film majoring in radio and television editing and directing, and also attracted the participation of many other teachers, students and scholars from within and without STA.

During the Q & A session, the students asked questions enthusiastically. Mr Tan Shengguang gave targeted answers to the questions raised by the students about "the inheritance of symbols of ancient decorative art, the origin of purple color, and the inclusiveness of Chinese traditional culture".


At the end of the lecture, Mr Tan Shengguang expressed his views on the proposition of "Why is Chinese culture everlasting like the heavens?" The lecture lasted for two hours, and Mr Tan Shengguang's explanation was detailed and full of solid examples, which broadened the horizon of students. The lecture was concluded successfully.
