Facing the current severe and complex COVID pandemic, as a member of an art university, what should we do and how should we do? In this special period, we will truly record every bit of the actions taken by the teachers, students and staff of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. Art is a kind of warmth, art is also a kind of power, art can bring strength to others, and art can also inspire ourselves. Move forward with art! The COVID pandemic is temporary, but art will last forever.

As the COVID prevention and control in Shanghai achieved phased results, May 1 International Labor Day and May 4 Youth Day came one after another. Although the Changlin Road Campus of Shanghai Theatre Academy was calm and quiet during the festival days, two special activities added a strong festival atmosphere to the campus in the special period.

On 1 May, at the Changlin Road Campus, a roundtable meeting was held to extend the festival greetings to the workers of logistic support who had been working tirelessly at their posts during the COVID prevention and control period. Hu Min, deputy party secretary of the university, fully acknowledged the efforts made by the workers of logistic support who had stuck to their posts to provide high-quality services for the COVID prevention and control at the university, and extended the festival greetings to all of them.

On the morning of 4 May, in the solemn national anthem, representatives of teachers and students of the Changlin Road Campus got together on the campus for a grand flag ceremony to raise the national flag in commemoration of the 103rd anniversary of the May 4th Movement and in celebration of the May 4th Youth Day and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Youth League of China. Subsequently, a young volunteers exchange and sharing activity entitled "The Light of the May 4th Movement Shines for a Century" was held. In a warm atmosphere, teachers and students first conducted a prize quiz. Through this session, the participants renewed the knowledge of party history, youth league history, voluntary service and COVID prevention, and also spent a relaxing moment rarely available since the outbreak of COVID. In the discussion session, the representatives of teachers and students opened their hearts, reviewed their experience of participating in voluntary service on the Changlin Road Campus, shared their feelings in growth, and talked freely about their expectations for the future. Hu Min, deputy party secretary of the University, said that: The young people here today are in the prime time of their youth, and all of us here today share the youth with them. Young people represent the future and hope. The sense of responsibility of the young people of STA stands out particularly in the face of COVID pandemic. The continuation of COVID prevention and control requires the young people to continue to devote their strength, and to inherit and carry forward the spirit of the May 4th Movement in practical actions.”

Han Yongsheng, deputy director of the Office of the Party Committee of STA and Office of the President and secretary of the general party branch of the College of Film, Fang Jun, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the Party Committee of STA and secretary of the general party branch of the College of Creative Studies, members of the COVID prevention and control taskforce for the Changlin Campus, and representatives of teachers and students participated in the above activities.
