On the afternoon of 7 April 2022, the Party branch of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences of Shanghai Theatre Academy held a special organizational life meeting on pandemic prevention and control on the "Tencent Conference" online. In the current severe situation of the pandemic, the Party branch of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences studied General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on pandemic prevention and control, the relevant work requirements put forward by Vice Premier Sun Chunlan during her visit to Shanghai and the pandemic prevention requirements at the three levels of the Shanghai Municipal Government, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and STA itself. All teachers who are party members talked about their gains from studying the above in combination with their own teaching work, anti-pandemic life and volunteer activities, and looked forward to the arrival of spring with blooming flowers and the end of the pandemic as soon as possible. All of party members of the branch participated in the special organizational life meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr Shi Huadong first read the “Open Letter to Communist Party Members in the Whole City” from the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, conveyed the spirit of STA’s meeting on the work of pandemic prevention, and studied the relevant materials. Teachers who are party members shared what they had seen and heard in the pandemic prevention and control and also the situation of online teaching during the pandemic. In response to the call of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, all teachers who are party members of this branch have registered with the “Party Member Sign-in” portal in the "Pioneer Shanghai" platform, actively signing up as community volunteers. Some teachers have already participated in the voluntary service in their local communities for many times; Some teachers are warm-heatedly helping the neighbors and other people in need such as the security guards and the elderly living along in their own buildings; Some teachers have been living under lockdown for a long time, but they still maintain an optimistic and upward attitude, feel grateful, and eagerly hope for the early removal of lockdown so that they may go out to help more people. All teachers who are party members take the online teaching very seriously and, by making use of various means such as the Chaoxing platform and Tencent conference, they strive to teach theoretical and practical knowledge to the students and pass on the positive attitude to the students. Besides, they also actively help students who encounter difficulties during the pandemic.
The meeting lasted more than two hours. All teachers spoke actively, shared enthusiastically and gave advices and suggestions to each other. The special organization and life meeting on pandemic prevention and control was not only a meeting to enhance organizational cohesion, but also a meeting to deeply implement the requirements of the higher-level party organizations on the work of pandemic prevention and control. The teachers also expressed that in the face of the current severe pandemic situation, they as university teachers who are party members will surely go and get involved in the community, rise to difficulties and face up positively. They all believed that under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, with the concerted efforts of all levels of government in Shanghai and with the support of the people of all parts of the country, the all-round victory of this battle against the COVID-19 pandemic will surely be achieved.
