In the early morning of 8 March, the Pandemic Prevention and Control Office of Changning District informed that a 2+12 closed-loop management should be implemented for teachers and students in the Hongqiao Road Campus of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA). Accordingly, the students should conduct 48-hour closed-loop management in the Honggu Road dormitories and teaching and administrative staff should conduct 48-hour closed-loop management in Building 3 of the International Dance Center. Upon receiving the notice, STA attached great importance to it and immediately deployed the arrangements for the closed-loop quarantine.
On the morning of 8 August, led by Zhang Lin, party secretary of the College, the administrative office of the College combed and checked the relevant lists so as to ensure that the notice, calling together and management were fully carried out, and did a roll call of all teachers and staff.
During the 48-hour closed-loop management period, the College actively communicated with the Logistic and Security Office, the Affiliated Dance School and the Property Management Office, cooperated with the overall arrangements of STA, understood the needs of the teachers and staff, and acted upon instructions no matter it was during the day or at night to organize meal delivery, nucleic acid tests, sleeping bag distribution and a variety of other matters, so as to make everything run in order and make the teachers and staff feel the warmth of the College of Dance as a big family.
During the lock-down and control period, the leaders of STA, the Pandemic Prevention and Control Group of STA and the Teacher Affairs Office of STA also expressed the solicitude to the College of Dance, cared about the situation and needs of the teachers and staff within the 48 hours, and actively made the arrangements to solve practical difficulties.
The teachers and staff of the College of Dance also turned this special 48 hours into an opportunity for teaching research and team building to promote academic exchanges and further enhance emotional connection. Under the leadership of the leading group of the College, each teaching research office held a teaching research meeting to review and summarize the teaching work since the beginning of the semester, and also to make the arrangements for the classroom teaching, teaching materials planning and other relevant matters that would follow.
The teachers and staff also carried out various activities such as drawing blackboard newspapers, sharing music lists, cooperative games and so on.
At night, the Administrative Office organized everyone to sleep in the specialized classroom, and the teachers consciously gave the deck chairs from the Teachers’ Home to those teachers and staff who were older or sick.
Despite the fact that they had to sleep on the floor and that they had to be scattered around in the fairly large classroom so as to maintain the safety distance, the "night talk party" time seemed to have brought them back to their school days, and added a lot of laughter. This war against the pandemic has brought people's hearts closer to each other. Mr Liu Jianming from the Administrative Office acted as a "night watchman" who did not go to sleep until all others were asleep.
The next morning, the ballet teachers of brought a master class on ballet for everyone, with the teachers of the Dance Music Teaching Research Office performing a live accompaniment. In the melodious sound of the piano, the teachers danced in a happy mode, and even those staff members who were not good at dancing were influenced and also joined the one after another.
Under the arrangement of the College, all teachers and staff completed the second round of nucleic acid test at noon on 9 March, while the lock-down was lifted on the morning of 10 March. In the face of pandemic prevention and control, the teachers and staff of the STA College of Dance actively cooperated to overcome the difficulties together, and will strictly abide by the relevant pandemic prevention regulations during the subsequent 12 days of health monitoring.
This special 48 hours has brought the hearts of all members of the STA College of Dance even closer, during which they worked together to build a strong defense line against the pandemic. We thank every teacher and every staff for their understanding and support, and for their joint efforts to protect the beautiful campus where flowers are blossoming in the spring.
