In the journey of building a moderately well-off society in an all-round way and moving towards the second centennial goal of building a modernized and powerful socialist country in an all-round way, how art can further serve high-quality development and people's yearning for a better life has become a topic of concern for teachers and students of the College of Creative Studies in the course of research and practice.

On 11 November, organized by Tang Fang, deputy secretary of the general party branch, Professor Han Sheng and Associate Professor Xu Guofeng, some students of the College of Creative Studies went to the Hu Xiangcheng Culture and Art Studio in Jinze Town, Qingpu District, Shanghai for immersive learning, which included a call on Mr Hu Xiangcheng, the famous artist, to listen to his thinking on what kind of contemporary art we need. This also marked the official opening of the "Artist Classroom Series" project of the College of Creative Studies.

Hu Xiangcheng, graduated from the Department of Stage Design of Shanghai Theatre Academy, used to live abroad for a long time. Since returning home, he has actively committed to the reconstruction of local culture. In Jinze, he has transformed a dilapidated township factory into a "Folk Craft Museum", setting an example by personally making the efforts to explore the inheritance of Chinese traditional culture and rural construction.

During this study visit, Mr Hu Xiangcheng took the teachers and students to visit three characteristic pavilions. Mr Hu Xiangcheng, who is nearly 80 years old, has always said that there are many things to do, but there is always no enough time. He hopes that young people will cherish time and do something beneficial to society from the perspective of art.

The students of the College of Creative Studies who came to visit and study said that the older generation of artists such as Mr Hu Xiangcheng always take the pursuit of a better life as their responsibility and is an example for them to learn, and that as teachers and students of art universities, they should open their mind of artistic creation and make their own contributions to meet the needs of the times.
