On 4 February , the Seminar on the Origin and Schools of Contemporary European and American Theatre (Special Session for France, Germany, Russia and Northern Europe) was successfully held in the Foxi Building of Shanghai Theatre Academy. Professor Yang Yang, vice president of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and Professor Gong Baorong, director of the Centre for International Theatre Studies of Shanghai Theatre Academy, attended and delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Professors, experts and young scholars from many colleges and universities across the country, as well asteachers and students of our university, actively participated in the seminar.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Gong Baorong, and Professor Yang Yang delivered the opening speech. The seminar was conducted online and offline. The morning session was the keynote speeches session, and the afternoon session was divided into three topics, i.e. France, Russia, Germany and Northern Europe, which were held at three venues at the same time. The content of the keynote speeches covered theatrestudies in Germany, France and Russia, Chinese and Western theatre exchanges and digital theatre, which provided a tone-setting opening for the topical meetings in the afternoon. A total of 27 experts and scholars spoke at the three topical meetings in the afternoon session, which was wide-ranging in studies, depth and specific in content, and broadened the ideas for European theatre studies.

After a day of in-depth exchanges and warm discussions, the seminar was successfully concluded. The active participation ofteachers and students reflected their great academic enthusiasm, which has made people look forward to an even more wonderful gathering next time.
