On the afternoon of 29 October, Professor Hu Xingliang of Nanjing University was invited to our university to give a keynote lecture on "May 4th TheatreDebate and Chinese modern drama" in Room 209, Red Building, Huashan Road Campus. This lecture was the first lecture in a series of lectures on "Special Research on Chinese Modern and Contemporary Theatre".
Professor Hu Xingliang is a distinguished professor of liberal arts and doctoral supervisor of Nanjing University. Concurrently,he is also the deputy director of ChineseNew Literature Research Center of Nanjing University and the director of Theatre, Film and Television Research Institute of Nanjing University, which are part of the Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education. He is the author of “Chinese TheatreTrends in the 20th Century”, “Chinese Drama and Chinese Opera”, “History of Contemporary Chinese and Foreign Comparative Theatre”, etc, He has won the first and second prizes of the National Colleges and UniversitiesOutstanding Achievement Award in Humanities and Social Sciences for many times. He is a senior expert in the field of Chinese modern and contemporary theatre research. This time, he was invited to hold a series of lectures on "Special Research on Chinese Modern and Contemporary Theatre" for our university. The lecture was presided over by Professor Chen Jun of the Department of DramaticLiterature. Teachers and students of the Department of DramaticLiterature actively participated in lecture and listened attentively.
